About Formula Chicane
Formula Chicane is an experimental, high-performance browser racing simulator built from the ground up to push the boundaries of modern WebGL2 and Three.js real-time 3D graphics.
Zero-Download Procedural Philosophy
Unlike conventional web games that require downloading hundreds of megabytes of 3D mesh files, audio samples, and texture maps, Formula Chicane is completely zero-download:
- Procedural Geometry: Vehicle chassis, suspension arms, aerodynamic wings, halo structures, and the entire 5.66 km Grand Prix circuit layout are mathematically generated at boot from parametric splines.
- Synthesized Audio: Exhaust notes, turbo spool, gear shifts, tyre scrub, and wind slipstream are generated entirely through the Web Audio API using multi-oscillator synthesis and physical acoustic modeling.
- Procedural Materials: Carbon fibre weave, team liveries, tyre wear graining, asphalt aggregate, and kerb paint are rasterized on-the-fly into canvas textures.
Game Modes & Features
- Single Race: Quick Grand Prix events against 19 adaptive AI drivers with slipstream overtaking and defensive positioning.
- Time Trial: Hot-lap telemetry testing with delta timing and braking point markers.
- P2P Multiplayer: WebRTC peer-to-peer multiplayer duels without central server latency.
- Realistic Aerodynamics: DRS wing flap activation, hybrid battery deployment (ERS), dirty air wake, and progressive tyre degradation.
